Insect Collage

We were learning about making a digital collage.

We created an insect to show what we have learned. I made a bumble bee.

I found it easy to make the body of the bee by using the keyword texture and the masking tool.

I found it hard to create the wings because I wanted them to be transparent.

I really enjoyed resizing and reshaping the shapes to make them suit my insect.

Next time I need to add more details to make it more realistic.

Be a Tooth Defender

We are learning to brush our teeth properly so we don't get cavities.

A few weeks ago room 7 were learning about oral hygiene with Mrs Morrow in class.

First we learned what cavities are and what they can do to your teeth. Cavities can be caused by eating too much sugar and not brushing your teeth correctly. We learned to not swallow toothpaste and to not rinse your mouth afterwards because toothpaste is not food and shouldn't be swallowed, and rinsing your mouth washes away the toothpaste which stops it from protecting your teeth.

Then we learned that we have baby teeth and get adult teeth after but if your adult teeth fall out you will have only gums. Try to brush your teeth morning and night because you only get one set of adult teeth.

Afterwards we created a poster to show what we have learned about brushing our teeth. We wrote sentences on the poster explaining the steps of how to brush your teeth and how to look after your teeth. We drew pictures of things like toothbrushes, toothpaste, rotten teeth, and drawings of before and after brushing your teeth.

I found it easy to come up with information about teeth because I already knew some of these things and just needed a reminder. I found it difficult to put ideas down on my poster. To solve this problem I can ask a buddy or look at some else's work to get ideas. I enjoyed thinking of ideas to put on the poster. Next time I brush my teeth at home I will try the tooth defender tips.

Shortcut keys with Maunga Nui

We were learning about shortcut keys and screenshots. We were learning to do this to be able to do things quicker on our Chromebooks. We made a copy of a document and then did some activities.

We created a name tag changing the size, the colour and font to show what we have learned.

I found it easy to copy and paste and cut and paste.

I found it hard to resize because there was lots to choose from.

I really enjoyed learning how to paste because it was easy for me.

Next time I need to read the instructions more carefully.

We are learning to be SMART if something happens online that we don’t like.

We were learning about being SMART if something happens online that we don’t like. We created an infographic that will show people what to do when someone is mean online. I found it interesting to talk about the mean behaviour online. I found it easy to change the font on my poster. I found it hard to remember the instructions but I now know I can go back and look at them again on the class site. I really enjoyed learning about what S.T.O.P means because I can use it if I have problems online. Next time I need to try making my own images instead of using the explore tool.
